Sustainability isn’t just a trend; it’s a vital responsibility we owe to our planet and future generations. With this belief in mind, our school is preparing for an exciting event—the Sustainability Summit 2025. This initiative aims to set ambitious, sustainable goals through engaging debates and innovative discussions.
The journey to organize this significant event has been nothing short of extraordinary. Out of 350 aspiring candidates, we selected a dedicated team of twenty-one individuals to bring the Sustainability Summit to life. The process leading to this stage has been long and, at times, challenging, but every effort has been worthwhile. From understanding the intricate details of the summit’s structure to navigating unexpected hurdles, each moment has contributed to our growth and understanding.
Recently, we held a debriefing session to clarify the format of the Sustainability Summit. During this session, we outlined the event’s structure for both days, detailing the Cohort Round and the Summit Round. We discussed how teams would engage in debates, the selection process for presenters, and the criteria by which our contributions would be judged. This groundwork was essential not only for familiarizing everyone with their roles but also for fostering a sense of confidence and preparedness as the summit approaches.
To encourage collaboration, we invited questions and provided examples to illustrate each component of the process. It was a fantastic opportunity for everyone to come together and align our efforts as we moved closer to the summit. As we progressed in our planning, we aimed to ensure clarity regarding the various roles involved in organizing the event. This was crucial for defining responsibilities as we moved forward. We strategically assigned the remaining team members into institutional groups for the Summit Round, which included the Media Desk, Economics Forum, Public Voice, Ethics and Sustainability, Research and Documentation, and Policy Analysis. This careful organization helped ensure that every aspect of the event would be managed efficiently and thoroughly covered.
On the first day, we had a fantastic experience! We had the opportunity to lead the committee as chairs and also participated in open debates. The IRAC session was particularly fruitful and engaging. The organizing committee selected the three best presenters for the following days. On the second day, we divided the students into stakeholder teams and institutional teams. The stakeholder teams engaged in some intense debates, leading to numerous contributions from the institutional teams. The audience was also engaged, asking interesting questions. The day was over before we knew it, and the event was successful, encountering only minor hiccups.
As we reflect on the Sustainability Summit 2025, we are thrilled about the meaningful discussions and impactful actions that took place. With commitment and collaboration at the heart of our efforts, we not only achieved our goals for this event but also set a precedent for future endeavors in sustainability. Thank you for being a part of this incredible journey, and stay tuned for what comes next!
