The Sea Cadet Corps, Ootacamund Unit at Good Shepherd International School was formed in the year 1980 with personal affirmation from the founder of this movement in India – Late Honorary Commodore Gokuldas S Ahuja. The SCC Ootacamund unit has since been making progress in the training of its Cadets(students recruited from the School), in the quality of activities offered at the unit and also in our joint ventures with other Sea Cadet Unit to nurture our cadets into responsible and disciplined global individuals with a mind to serve and to excel. Our unit is greatly supported by the Naval Wing of the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, The Nilgiris. Through the DSSC Wellington (Naval Wing), Cadets are fortunate to avail of the facility at the Watermanship Training Centre, Pykara to undergo their training in the water-based activities. The Ship Model Room at Good Shepherd International School helps to further the knowledge and the understanding of maritime life, skills and opportunities.
The school has separate and independent Brass and Pipe Bands and they steal the limelight during the Founder's Day celebrations and other important state functions in the district. These units are administered and trained by professional band masters who have retired from the Defence Services.
