Community Service

The school organizes weekly trips to orphanages and old age homes for different batches of students. In today’s world where people are too caught up in their own lives, elements such as love, affection, and empathy are often forgotten. To that end, charity trips serve as an eye opener for our children, allowing them to spread that love and compassion. Students voluntarily contribute their old clothes and stationery to charity with an aim to benefit society with their resources, and also spend time in orphanages and old age homes.

CAS – a major component in the IB curriculum, and SUPW for the ISC curriculum both require community service. Also, it is an integral part of the IAYP programme.

Our students were also involved in the “Each One Reach One” program in which children from the local community were taught English and other skills of craft and paper bag making every Sunday afternoon. These paper bags were distributed to the local vendors. Besides this, awareness drives for Cancer and Child Labour have been conducted on various occasions, and our students went cleaning the village locality around the school as part of these awareness drives.

The initiative of community service in school plants inspiration in young minds to carry this forward even when they go home for their vacations, and beyond the portals of GSIS.

Interact Club

GSIS is a member of Rotary Club, an organization of business and professional leaders coming together to provide humanitarian services, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world. Rotarians have been carrying out philanthropic work in every nation, their range encompassing a remarkable variety of humanitarian, educational, and cultural programmes that touch people’s lives in their local communities and our world.

The Interact Club, sponsored by Rotary Club, is involved in sustainable social services, charitable projects and awareness programs, and leadership building opportunities in the Nilgiris district and beyond. Our Interact Club members have carried out a number of charity outreach programs, spending time with people at various homes including Mercy Home, Smyrna Home, Mizpah Home, Arise and Shine Home, New Life Children Home, and Little Sisters of the Poor. As part of this initiative, our club members conducted a variety of entertainment programs, engaged in interaction and open communication, shared snacks, and supported the homes with clothes and stationery.
