Weather in Ooty

The best time to visit Ooty with your family is between April and June and September and November. During the summer season, the temperature ranges between 20°C-25°C. This is the best time to go sightseeing at Avalanche Lake, Botanical Garden and Ooty Lake. You can even go camping or for star-gazing on a clear night.

If you are a lover of monsoons, then plan your trip in July-September as it is the best time to enjoy the charm and tranquillity of Doddabetta, Glenmorgan, and Pykara Lake. 

For those who love chilly weather, the winter usually lasts from October to February. At night, the temperature might dip below 5°C. 

What to pack and what to wear in Ooty

  • Warm clothes such as sweaters, jumpers, jackets, socks and thermal wear are required all through the year in Ooty, especially during the winter season
  • Umbrellas, raincoats, sneakers, and flip flops are a must during monsoons
