Empowering Futures: GSIS Career Fair August 2024
At Good Shepherd International School (GSIS), our commitment to preparing students for the challenges and opportunities of the future is paramount. The GSIS Career Fair, held in August 2024, was a resounding success, offering students an excellent platform to explore various career paths and engage directly with top institutions.
A Platform for Discovery
The event brought together 117 leading universities from around the world, showcasing a diverse array of fields—from the arts and humanities to engineering, business, and the sciences. Students had the unique opportunity to meet representatives from these institutions, ask questions, and gain invaluable insights into the programs they offer. This exposure enabled students to make informed decisions about their higher education choices and future careers.
Exclusive Insights from College Board
In addition to the university booths, students also had the chance to hear from Miss Mehak Verma, a representative of College Board. The name College Board is one that high schoolers around the world know well—its signature blue logo is visible on SAT, ACT, and AP test materials. In this exclusive podcast episode, Miss Mehak Verma dives into the details of the various tests students can take before college, addressing common queries and offering guidance to help students navigate their exam journey.

Interactive Sessions for Aspiring Leaders
What set the career fair apart were the interactive workshops and panel discussions tailored for students from different grades. Some of the key highlights included:
- Portfolio Review: Experts guided students on crafting impressive portfolios, especially beneficial for those pursuing creative fields.
- Statement of Purpose (SoP) for UCAS: Students received detailed guidance on writing compelling SoPs to strengthen their applications for UK universities.
- Application Review Sessions: University representatives provided personalized feedback on students’ college applications, helping them fine-tune their approach.
- SAT Suite of Assessments Workshops: These sessions gave students tips on preparing for the SAT exams, including strategies for improving scores and balancing their schedules.

Networking and Mentorship
In addition to university booths and workshops, students engaged in one-on-one conversations with admissions officers and career counselors.
