IB Middle Years Programme

IB Middle Years Programme

Good Shepherd International School is a Candidate School for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Program (MYP). The school is pursuing authorization for the IB MYP program.

The International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) is offered to students in grades 6 – 10, aged 11 – 16. IB MYP is philosophically aligned with IB Primary Years Programme and IB Diploma Programme but it is not mandatory to enrol in the IB PYP before starting the IB MYP or to pursue the IB Diploma programme after completing the IB MYP. The MYP is a framework that encourages students to make practical connections between their studies and the real world. The MYP is inclusive by design; students of all interests and academic abilities can benefit from their participation in the programme. The MYP aims to develop active learners and internationally-minded young people who can empathize with others and pursue lives of purpose and meaning. The programme empowers students to inquire into a wide range of issues and ideas of significance locally, nationally and globally. The result is young people who are creative, critical and reflective thinkers.

MYP at GSIS Ooty, one of the most holistic IB residential schools in India, allows students to live in a community of residential students from 30+ nationalities living and growing together on one campus. The international culture at GSIS Ooty further enhances the two main virtues of the MYP: inclusion and diversity.

The introduction of this IB continuum program reinforces our commitment to high quality, challenging, international education that is important for our students to be self-directed life-long learners.

*Only schools authorized by the International Baccalaureate can offer any of its four academic programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), the Diploma Programme or the Career-related Programme (CP). Candidate status gives no guarantee that authorization will be granted.
