One Vision. Multiple Pathways to Excellence.
At GSIS, two internationally respected curricula run on one campus — so the pathway is chosen to fit the child, and the choice stays open until your child is ready to make it.
Grades 4–12
IB Continuum (PYP · MYP · DP)
Inquiry-led and concept-driven, recognised by universities worldwide. One of very few schools in India authorised for the complete continuum — with the Career-related Programme (CP) joining from July 2027.
Grades 6–10 · 11–12
ICSE & ISC
A rigorous English-medium Indian curriculum with a strong science foundation, aligned to the National Education Policy. GSIS is itself a CISCE examination centre — students sit their boards on home ground.
What Residential at GSIS Delivers
460 hours, reclaimed every year
Commuting alone costs students in India close to 460 hours a year, time that could otherwise be spent discovering passions, building friendships, and growing into confident individuals. Add in hours lost to digital screens, and to the unsupervised, unstructured pockets of a day that add up without anyone noticing, and the true toll runs higher still. At GSIS, that time is reclaimed and transformed into sport, art, leadership, and lasting friendship.
The THRIVE Framework
The 460 hours aren’t left to chance. They flow into THRIVE, a seven-year developmental programme spanning Grade 6 to Grade 12. Every student’s growth is tracked across all six dimensions through our Skills Heat Map.

The Nilgiris, Our Classroom
A setting no other school in India can offer
GSIS sits within the Nilgiris, a UNESCO World Heritage region and one of India’s most breathtaking mountain landscapes. At an elevation where the air is clean and the climate gentle year-round, with an average temperature of 16.5°C and an exceptional Air Quality Index of 49, your child learns and grows in an environment simply unavailable to schools in India’s cities.
Here, the outdoors isn’t an occasional field trip. It’s woven into everyday life. Our students set sail on open water, take to the hills for mountaineering, trek deep into forest trails, and camp beneath a sky untouched by city lights. Through the Sea Cadet Corps, an auxiliary of the Indian Navy, cadets build seamanship, discipline, and leadership.

How We Care for Your Child
Pastoral Care at GSIS
Almost 95% of our staff live on campus. Not on duty, but living there, sharing meals, activities, and daily life with students. As our Headmistress puts it, our role is to ensure every child feels known, respected, and encouraged to grow beyond her own expectations.
Individual Attention, Every Day
26 dorms, organised by age group and gender, each guided by boarding house parents who act as mentors first. A 1:4 teacher-to-student ratio means she is never lost in a crowd. Every adult around her becomes a trusted presence in her growth.
Supported in Every Sense
Two fully equipped medical centres, one for boys and one for girls, staffed 24/7. Weekly dermatologist visits, on-campus physiotherapy, and dental care mean specialist help rarely requires leaving campus, with hospital partnerships in Ooty and Coimbatore for anything more serious. Her emotional wellbeing gets the same seriousness through a counselling programme built on daily presence. 850+ CCTV cameras and round-the-clock trained security matter too, but they’re the backdrop, not the point.
Always Connected to Home
Weekly video calls, instant updates on her progress, and full parent portal access mean distance never becomes disconnection. If something ever does go wrong, you hear it from us, quickly and directly, not from her.

Questions Parents Ask
Frequently Asked Questions
Which curricula does GSIS offer?
Two pathways run on one campus. The IB Continuum — PYP (Grades 4–5), MYP (Grades 6–10) and the Diploma Programme (Grades 11–12), with the Career-related Programme launching July 2027. The Indian board pathway — ICSE at Grades 6–10 and ISC at Grades 11–12. Students choose their post-Grade 10 pathway when they are ready.
Which pathway is right for my child?
It depends on where they are likely to study next and how they learn. The IB suits students headed for universities abroad and those who thrive on inquiry and extended writing. ICSE and ISC suit families planning on Indian universities and competitive examinations. Our admissions team will talk it through with you before you decide.
How does the school ensure my child is safe?
The campus is secured round the clock by a trained security team with 850+ CCTV cameras, and the school maintains its own fully-equipped fire truck and ambulance. Every boarding house has 24/7 house parents, and every student has a named 1:1 faculty mentor.
What medical care is available on campus?
Two fully equipped medical centres, one for boys and one for girls, staffed 24/7 by two full-time resident doctors and resident nurses, alongside an 80-bed infirmary. Weekly dermatologist visits, on-campus physiotherapy and dental care mean specialist help rarely requires leaving campus, with hospital partnerships in Ooty and Coimbatore for anything more serious.
My child has never boarded before. Is Grade 6 too early?
Most of our students join without prior boarding experience. Our 26 dorms are organised by age group and gender, house parents live alongside the students, and every child is assigned a faculty mentor from day one. Independence at GSIS is built gradually, inside a circle of care.
How will we stay in touch?
Weekly video calls, instant updates on your child’s progress, and full parent portal access. If something ever does go wrong, you hear it from us — quickly and directly.
How will my child travel to and from Ooty?
The school’s in-house travel desk books flights through Coimbatore International Airport and school staff escort students to and from the airport at the start and end of every term. Most of our students travel independently, and parents do not need to make the journey.
What does the fee include?
Tuition, boarding, meals, academic resources, co-curricular programmes, medical care, counselling and access to all campus facilities are covered by a single all-inclusive fee. Textbooks, a personal laptop, the one-time uniform and optional international trips sit outside it. Our admissions team will share the current fee schedule when you enquire.
Experience GSIS — not just as a school, but as a home.
Applications for the coming academic year are open. Begin with a short enquiry, and our admissions team will guide you through registration, the campus visit and the aptitude assessment.
