Sea Cadet Corps

The Sea Cadet Corps (SCC), Ootacamund Unit, at Good Shepherd International School was commissioned in 1980. Since then, the SCC Ootacamund Unit has been making progress in nurturing its Cadets (students recruited from the school) into responsible and disciplined global individuals with a mind to serve and to excel. Our Unit is greatly supported by the Naval Wing of the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, The Nilgiris. Through the DSSC Wellington, Cadets are fortunate to avail of the facility at the Watermanship Training Centre, Pykara to undergo their training in the water-based activities like kayaking, paddling, sailing, and more.

The Cadets of Good Shepherd International School, Ootacamund Unit, undergo various leadership and training camps held at Training Ship Jawahar, Colaba, Mumbai (Headquarters of SCC, India) besides those at INS Venduruthy, Kochi (under the Southern Naval Command).

The Ship Model Room at Good Shepherd International School helps students to further their knowledge and understanding of maritime life, skills and opportunities.
