Opening Doors to a World of Possibilities

Good Shepherd International School came alive on 7 September 2026 as we welcomed universities from across the world for our annual University Fair. With 60 universities participating, the day gave our students an opportunity to step beyond the classroom and engage directly with university representatives, explore different academic pathways, and begin thinking more intentionally about life after school.

The fair ran throughout the school day, with students from Grades 9 to 12 taking part at different times. From exploring university booths to attending dedicated university sessions, students had the opportunity to ask questions, discover new possibilities, and gain a better understanding of what higher education could look like for them.

A World of Possibilities on Campus

For our Grade 11 and 12 students, the fair offered the opportunity to interact with representatives from universities across different countries and academic fields. Dedicated sessions with institutions such as Imperial College London, Arizona State University, and the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) allowed students to engage in more focused conversations around courses, admissions, campus life, and opportunities beyond the classroom.

The session with Imperial College London drew strong interest from students exploring STEM pathways, while Arizona State University sparked conversations around its wide range of programmes, flexibility, innovation, and the American university experience. SCAD, meanwhile, opened up possibilities for students interested in design, film, animation, and the visual arts.

The fair was not only for our senior students. Grade 9 and 10 students had dedicated time to explore the university booths, giving them an early introduction to the wide range of opportunities available around the world. For many of them, this was a chance to ask their first questions about university life, different fields of study, and the destinations they might one day consider.

Learning Beyond Our School Community

This year’s fair was also made special by the participation of students from Hebron School, who joined us during a dedicated visiting window. Their presence added another dimension to the event, allowing students from both schools to explore universities together, exchange ideas, and share their experiences.

More Than a University Fair

A university fair is ultimately about much more than collecting brochures or adding names to a shortlist. It is about conversations, curiosity, and helping students understand the many different paths available to them.

For our Grade 9 and 10 students, the fair offered an opportunity to explore without the immediate pressure of applications. Grade 11 students could begin thinking more carefully about their choices and future plans, while Grade 12 students were able to use their conversations with university representatives to clarify questions and gather information as they moved forward with their applications.

We are grateful to all 60 universities who joined us and took the time to engage with our students, as well as to Hebron School for being part of the event.

At GSIS, we hope experiences like these encourage our students to look beyond familiar pathways, ask better questions, and approach their futures with curiosity. The University Fair 2026 was one more opportunity to help them see that the world beyond school is full of possibilities, and that their journey can take them in many different directions.
