International Award for Young People (IAYP)

The International Award for Young People is a global framework for non-formal education, which challenges young people aged between 14 and 25 to dream big, celebrate their achievements and make a difference in their world. There are 3 levels of the Award – Bronze, Silver and Gold. Participants must complete the four mandatory sections of Voluntary Service, Adventurous Journey, Skill & Physical Recreation, to achieve these levels. During the year 2019-2020, our students completed the IAYP program successfully and were presented with the following awards:

  • 5 students of Grade 12 – Gold
  • 105 students Grade 12 – Silver
  • 102 students Grade 10 – Bronze

The number of IAYP aspirants for the current academic year 2020-21 is as follows:

  • 5 Gold Level aspirants of Grade 12
  • 81 Silver Level candidates of Grade 12
  • 126 Bronze Level contenders of Grade 10

From 28 January to 1 February 2020, our 5 Gold Level aspirants participated in a residential project to create opportunities for them to be physically active, develop their skills, experience adventure, and give service to the local community at the Irulas Tribal Village – Kolikarai, in collaboration with the Nilgiris Adivasi Welfare Association (NAWA).

The Gold Residential Project gives participants a shared, purposeful experience with people who are not their usual companions, working towards a common goal. The aim of the Gold Residential Project is to broaden experience through living and working with others, in a residential setting. The aspirants were assessed based on their social interaction or peer relation, teamwork, responsibility, initiative and service work.
