Where a Different School of Thought Begins
At GSIS, the Primary Years Programme isn’t just about what children learn — it’s about how they learn, why they learn, and who they become in the process.
Here, young minds are nurtured in an environment that balances academic depth with joyful discovery, structure with freedom, and individuality with community.
“In GSIS, our PYP programme is a journey where children learn to wonder, to reflect, and to take action. It’s where learning is joyful, purposeful, and always guided by our belief in ‘A Different School of Thought.’”

Why Choose Our PYP Program
At GSIS, we believe in nurturing the heart, mind, and soul of our youngest members, aged 9-11. Our PYP program goes beyond academics, embracing a joyful, clean, serene, and blissful environment.
The GSIS Approach to PYP
Through the six transdisciplinary themes that shape our unique curriculum. GSIS is committed to inspiring young minds to become curious, empathetic, and capable individuals. Our comprehensive approach, inquiry-based learning, and global perspective prepare students for a rapidly changing world.
Values and Learning in PYP
Experience the values of empathy, kindness, and honesty in action at GSIS. Our PYP students create a supportive dorm community, share assembly responsibilities, and cherish their reading corners.
A Joyful Learning Journey
At GSIS, we provide space for students to enjoy the love of reading, embrace vibrant joy, and take responsibility for their learning. Join us in cultivating an atmosphere of enthusiasm and accountability.
How We Nurture PYP Learners
Through the PYP curriculum, we empower young learners with critical thinking, creativity, and international-mindedness. Our integrated approach and inquiry-based learning foster independent thinking and global awareness.
A comprehensive Approach to Learning
At GSIS, our PYP Programme nurtures curious, principled, and reflective learners who think beyond subjects. In our caring residential environment, students grow in independence, collaboration, and empathy—culminating in the PYP Exhibition, where they take meaningful action on global issues. Guided by the IB Learner Profile and ATL skills, they’re equipped for any curriculum and every path ahead.
Fostering Inquiry and Global Citizenship
Discover the power of inquiry-based learning that encourages students to ask questions, investigate, and grow as independent thinkers. GSIS PYP students become global-minded citizens through dorm and dining hall experiences, fostering intercultural friendships.
The PYP at GSIS is built on curiosity.
Learning That Connects
Our transdisciplinary, inquiry-based approach encourages children to ask questions, explore ideas, and make meaningful connections across subjects. Small class sizes (not more than 20) and close mentoring ensure each child feels known, supported, and challenged — every single day.
Co-Curricular Life: Wonder in Action
PYP learners explore a variety of activities — from creative arts and sports to storytelling, music, dance, and hands-on projects. Every child is encouraged to imagine, experiment, play, and express. With supportive mentors and inspiring spaces, curiosity blossoms into skills — and joy becomes confidence.
Expression Through Arts
Every PYP student at GSIS explores rhythm, movement, and performance through weekly music and dance sessions.
Children begin with group classes using recorders and Orff instruments, then gradually move on to piano, strings, guitar, and percussion.
Selected students are trained for TCL (Trinity College London) and RSL Awards in music theory, speech & drama, Indian music, and street dance.
Many have received international certifications – a celebration of skill, creativity, and confidence. Whether on stage or in the studio, they discover confidence, collaboration, and the joy of artistic expression.
As a fully residential school, learning continues long after the school bell.
Living That Builds Character
Children live in a structured yet warm environment that promotes independence, discipline, and empathy. Pastoral care is woven into everything we do — with dorm parents, tutors, and support teams ensuring that every child feels safe, heard, and cared for.

Leading from the Start
Children at GSIS are trusted with responsibility — and rise to it. Through roles in classrooms, houses, and campus life, our students grow into confident communicators, decision-makers, and team players. We believe leadership starts early — and here, it’s part of everyday learning.
Growing Global Citizens
In a residential, multicultural setting, children learn to appreciate diverse perspectives, form lasting bonds, and see themselves as part of a wider world. The values of international-mindedness, service, and cultural empathy are lived every day — not just taught.
Why GSIS PYP?
Because here, childhood is respected.
Because here, learning is lived.
Because here, every child is prepared — not just for school, but for life.
Inclusive Education at GSIS
At Good Shepherd International School, we believe that true excellence in education lies in inclusion. Every learner brings a unique set of strengths, challenges, and perspectives—and it is this diversity that enriches our community.
Our commitment to inclusive education ensures that all students, regardless of their individual learning needs, feel seen, supported, and empowered to succeed. Through a culture rooted in empathy, equity, and collaboration, we strive to create an environment where each student thrives academically, socially, and emotionally.
Inclusion at GSIS is not just a philosophy—it is a shared responsibility and a way of life.
Our SEN Vision: Empowering Every Learner
The Special Educational Needs (SEN) Department at GSIS is dedicated to supporting students who experience learning differences that may impact their educational journey. These differences do not limit potential—they require thoughtful, tailored approaches that make learning accessible and meaningful.
We work in partnership with teachers, coordinators, parents, and students to design and implement individualized strategies and accommodations. Whether a student’s needs are academic, behavioral, or emotional, our goal is to ensure that they are met with understanding, encouragement, and the right tools to succeed.
We believe that with early intervention, continuous support, and a foundation of care, every student can build confidence, independence, and a strong sense of self-worth.
A Note from the Special Educator
“Each learner is a story waiting to be heard—each with their own rhythm, voice, and spark. I believe that every child can flourish when we take the time to understand how they learn and what inspires them. Inclusion is not just about access—it’s about belonging. At GSIS, we don’t just accommodate differences, we celebrate them.”
— Amruta Mathpati, Special Educator
